Obituary Robert Wolfe Published in the Sacramento Bee on 7/30/2005. WOLFE, Robert Passed away July 28th, 2005 at the age of 81. He was born in Congress, Ohio - the sixth of twelve children. His family moved to California when he was about five and settled in San Luis Obispo. Afer graduating from high school he went to Los Angeles to study theology in hopes of becoming a missionary. But it was 1943 and he decided to join the Army. He was in the 297th Combat Engineers stationed in Bournemouth, England, from where he was sent to land on Omaha Beach on "D-day", June 6th, 1944. Before the end of the war he had been decorated with the Bronze Star and the Soldier's Medal. He will be missed by his Wife, Juanita, his son Gordon and daugher in-law Cyndi. Bob worked thirty-four years for Pacific Gas & Electric Company Gas Construction and retired at the age of fifty-seven to pursue his hobbies of golfing and fishing. He belonged to the SIRS, branch 102 and was active in their golf section. He also belonged to two fishing groups, the Jolly Hookers and Wheels & Reels. Memorial service will be at Reicherts Funeral Home, 7320 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights at 11:00 am Monday, August 1st. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Diabetes Society.
