Subject: Norm Ostroff
Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2008 17:39:40 -0800I received an email from Charlotte Ostroff today which said that her husband, and our SIR member,Norm Ostroff, passed away on Feb 18, after a short illness, from cancer.
Services will be private. I do not know if there will be a notice in the paper.
Since we don't have a sunshine person, I will pass the info on to you for inclusion in the next newsletter, and other distribution as you see fit.In addition Charlotte advised that:
- Paul Wemer and his wife are preparing to move to a senior center in Napa, (we will miss him as the oldest 102 member)
- Ralph Todd has had a knee replacement and is at Eskaton in Fair Oaks.
- Bob Morton has also had a knee replacement and has moved to a senior center.
From: SIR Robert Baker...29Feb08We lost two SIR members recently. The first was Sir Norm Ostroff. Norm joined SIR in 1983 so he was very close to being one of our Branch's charter members. In his working life he was Plant Engineer for Aerojet and was instrumental in designing those big Aerojet rocket test stands. In retirement Norm was also very active in several organizations. Services will be held privately.
We lost Sir Roland Morton on February 25th to cancer. He had fought the disease valiantly for many years. Born in Wallace, Idaho in 1933 , "Mort" came to California as a young man. He was in the Army for two years then worked as a California State Health Inspector. He often smiling said his State inspection job had more personal dangers from irate people than his Army tour. Services are planned for March 10th at Christ Community Church.
Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to Charlotte Ostroff and Millie Morton and their families.Big Sir Joe Virga
