Subject: SIR death
Longtime member Lee Lehn died Saturday December
13th. He would have been 85 in January. Lee was born in the great
state of Nebraska in a farming community in the North Central part of the
state. 1943 found Lee in the Aleutian Islands working as a cook for
a large construction company. When dinner-time came there were 8000
“hungries” around the table ready to eat. The food facilities were able to seat
5000 at a time. In 1944 he entered the Army and upon completing basic
training once again fell heir to the "cook shack."
Lee left the
military in 1947 and married Lucille, his childhood sweetheart. He
enrolled with the California College of Commerce taking accounting
courses. Upon graduation he began work for the State Board of
Equalization. During his later years of service he headed the
State’s Department of Timber Tax Division. Lee retired in 1982 and in 1985
joined Sir #102. He rarely missed a golf session and served our Golf Club
as Treasurer many times. In later years he attended luncheon meetings that
often required his bringing supplemental oxygen. Lee was a real SIR friend
and our thoughts are with his wife Lucille at this time. (The Bee obituaries
will have services information.)
