Donald I. Gayner

GAYNER, Donald I.
Longtime resident of Fair Oaks was born July 14, 1916, in New Jersey, passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine. Don is survived by his two children, Gerry (Donna) Gayner and Patricia (Nick) Hayhurst, two grandchildren, Nick (Cheryl) Hayhurst and Christina (Shawn) Flanary, and an ''extended family'' that included friends, neighbors, golfers, Rotarians, and many, many others. A veteran of World War II, Don moved his family to California from Long Island, New York in 1957, settling in Fair Oaks a year later. Don spent his career working as an upholsterer and ran his own business, Don Gay Upholstery, with the help of his wife, Catherine. While officially retired, he kept busy pursuing hobbies such as gardening, golf, camping, and working with the local community. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, from 12:00 PM to 2:00PM at the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse, 7997 California Avenue, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. In lieu of flowers, please bring a story to share of your memories of Don Gayner.
